Recycled Cashmere and Sustainable Fashion with EILEEN FISHER
Something I am super passionate about in the Fashion Industry is the ability to support companies that are making a positive impact, not only in the way of production, but with their social consciousness as well. I partnered with EILEEN FISHER on their Recycled Cashmere Collection as a way to share their initiative. This Recycled Cashmere Tunic is made with recycled yarn from Italian factories, which also meets the Global Recycle Standard. This sweater is made cashmere respun from cutting room scraps which in turn reduce the brand’s environmental impact. While some might think "recycled" means old or reused, this form of recycling is using untouched virgin cashmere, which in reality gives recycle a whole new meaning—— clean recycling. While working with EILEEN FISHER, I learned about their company and mission behind their label and found it extremely inspiring. When asked to work with them, I was excited to support a brand I believe in. This head to toe look is entirely by EILEEN FISHER, and something I want to live in everyday. I went up one size in the recycled tunic to give it that oversized and relaxed feel and finished this look with organic denim and sneakers (true to size!). "At the end of the day, we make stuff. Where it ends up is our responsibility. We start by designing our clothes to last, so they'll stay in your closet longer. And when you're done with them we take them back to resell. By 2020 we expect that recycling total to hit one million. And the pieces we can't sell? They're tomorrow's raw material, to be reborn as new textiles or refashioned as new clothes. It may take longer than 5 years, but we imagine a future in which waste is a thing of the past." —— EILEEN FISHER Vision 2020
